Abaco Dinghy model

Over the past year we have had the pleasure of showcasing several Abaco Dinghy models.
This one pictured, measuring 16″ was hand made by Bill County who lives on board his boat
“Tamar II” in Hope Town’s Harbour.
Bill recalls how he got started making these minatures;
sailing into Little Harbour back in 1995 just before Hurricane Erin, he had an inspirational encounter with another artist who needs no introduction, Pete Johnston.
In fun-loving praise when he showed Pete one of his wooden models, Pete reached behind
the bar, robbed the cash box and bought it!
Bill says, “because I make the models onboard Tamar II, it could be said that she is delightfully
giving birth to these skeletal models that show the bare bone essence of an Abaco Dinghy..”
As a matter of fact, the “Tamar II” was built by Uncle Will Albury in 1958 on Man-O-War Cay.
